Chelsea’s Veiga seals loan switch to Juventus for rest of the season

Renato Veiga has completed a loan movement to Serie A Giants Juventus for the rest of the season after struggle for playing time in Chelsea.

Veiga, who arrived at Stamford Bridge of FC Basel last July in a reported deal of € 14 million, only appeared 18 performances in all competitions under Enzo Maresca.

The 21-year-old played mainly in the Europa Conference League and started all six games of Chelsea in the tournament, which they have won so far.

But for Veiga it is an opportunity to shine at the Allianz Stadium under Thiago Motta, with Juventus struggling with injuries, especially in defense throughout the season.

Motta is already without Center-back Gleison Bremer and left back Juan Cabal with long-term issues, while she also ended the contract of club captain and defender Danilo earlier on Monday.

It marks the third signing that Juventus made this month, with full-back Alberto Costa permanent at Vitoria Guimaraes, while Randal Kolo Muani also arrived in Turin for a loan agreement until the end of 2024-25 of Paris Saint-Germain.

Juventus is the next in action in the Champions League on Wednesday and will take on Benfica in the last match of the League phase, which were already eligible for the play-off round.
