Chloe Kelly is affiliated with Arsenal on loan until the end of the season from Manchester City.
Manchester United had also been in the race to sign the 27-year-old and achieved two approaches before the Deadline on Thursday 11 p.m., but Kelly moved to the Gunners, where she started her senior career.
Kelly's preference was to stay in Manchester, so she rejected the chance to sign for Brighton earlier in this window, but an agreement between Stad and Rivals United has never been materialized.
The Lionesses star is free to become a member of United at the end of the season, where her contract ends this summer and this season only made one WSL start for City.
But Kelly will spend the rest of the season in Northern London, because she hopes to play more First-Team football in the midst of concern about her place in the English team for this summer's 2025 euros.
She will not be eligible to play against her parent club in the WSL on Sunday, live on Sky Sports and the semi -final of the League Cup that takes place four days later.
Arsenal head coach Renee Sleesers said: “Chloe is an exciting attacking player and will be a great addition to our team when we approach the second half of the season. She is immediately and explosive, with enormous natural talent and power.
“We are all looking forward to working with Chloe as an Arsenal player in the coming months.”
In the meantime, Arsenal's director of women's football Clare Wheatley said: “We are very happy to welcome Chloe back to Arsenal. As a graduate Academy we are proud of the career she enjoyed, both at club and international level.
“We are pleased that she will represent Arsenal again, because we want to compete for honor this season.”
Kelly is wearing the no. 18 sweater in Arsenal.
Kelly's movement comes after a highly formulated explanation
Kelly was disappointed that she could not have left the city earlier this month – and released a highly formulated post on social media about her future on Wednesday.
Sky Sports News understands that City had only received one suitable bid for Kelly before the explanation and that it had been to her to consider before the window was closed.
Sky Sports News reached to Kelly on Wednesday after she said on Instagram that she was “disappointed” that “with whom she can and cannot” participate “for her. That followed a malfunction in the relationships between the club and her Management after meetings.
It is understood that the club told her that she could not be replaced this month, but then signed Brazil International Kerolin Nicoli from North Carolina Courage. Kelly thought the club was holding her pride.
Kelly's contract with City ends in four months and England manager Sarina Wiegman is assumed that she would like to get a regular playing time for the euros this summer. Kelly still regards himself as a “top three” player.
Kelly said in her statement on Wednesday: “For a long time I tried to go through professional challenges privately, not publicly commenting, but with my situation increasingly in the public domain, I think it's time to be open and transparent and you heard it from My perspective.
“An important lesson that I have learned in my life is that, although I cannot control the negative behavior of someone, I can determine how long I am willing to tolerate it. From the first day I have felt so much love of mine Teammates and the fans.
“With my contract that ends in June, I accepted that my future is not in this club afterwards. With the euros that is approaching quickly, this summer is a huge and I want to give it my best to represent my land. “
Analysis: Kelly much too talented to be a team player
Sky Sports' Laura Hunter:
The curious thing of Chloe Kelly. England's Euro 2022 Last savior and so often also in recent years a competition winner for Manchester City. But something went wrong this season and the last-minute loan switch to Arsenal felt messy, although it could be a movement that really works for both parties.
Gareth Taylor was questioned about Kelly's lack of minutes this season – only 165 in the WSL – on different occasions and remained cautious, while he chose not to add fuel to the transfer speculation fire. The latter was reasonable enough, but the manager never really tackled why Kelly did not play.
This is a wing player who was a third of the most frightening attacking trio in the WSL previous term – in addition to Bunny Shaw and Lauren Hemp – scoring and helping for fun while the city set up a serious title challenge. Kelly registered 10 target contributions and generated 51 opportunities, the second best creative threat behind Katie Zelem of Manchester United.
It is clear that her relationship with Taylor has been demolished, but Kelly has so much to offer and is desperate to prove her value to Sarina Wiegman before the English boss makes her squad selection for this summer's euro. At 27 she only comes in her peak years, not outside them.
Hopefully Arsenal offers her what she needs to rediscover that spark.
