New York Red Bulls, runners-up in the MLS Cup, have announced the signing of Cameroon international and three-time Bundesliga winner Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
The 35-year-old was without a club after being released from Bayern Munich at the end of the 2024/25 season in Germany.
Choupo-Moting has an impressive track record, having won five league titles in the past six years with both Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich.
His most profitable season at both clubs was 2022/23, during which he scored seventeen goals in all competitions for Bayern.
He also played for Cameroon at the 2014 and 2022 World Cup and therefore has sufficient experience at the highest level.
Choupo-Moting joins the Red Bulls on a two-year contract as a Designated Player and will look to take his side one step further in the 2025 season.
The New York Red Bulls reached the MLS Cup final in the 2024 season despite finishing seventh – the last automatic qualifying spot – in the Eastern Conference.
They were eventually defeated by champions LA Galaxy, who claimed their first title since 2014.
Welcome to the subway, Choupo
