Although Liverpool is impossible for the title, Arsenal -Fans can be looking forward to the progress in the Champions League against Real Madrid for the time being, former player and expert Chris Sutton claims on the latest 'It's All Kicking!' Podcast.
Mercurial European Cup winners Madrid are currently in second place in LaLiga, three points behind Hansi Flick's Barcelona, while their European form has fallen this campaign under their consistently high standards.
Los Blancos survived and narrowly survived the competition stage of the competition, with losses against Lille and AC Milan that obliges the side to beat Man City in a knockout round for making progress.
Sutton told Co-host and post football editor Ian Ladyman: 'I think Arsenal fans are clinging to straws when they think they are still in a title race.
'They will concentrate on Madrid – which I think is a very profitable band for Arsenal. Madrid probably goes into play as everyone's favorites, with the series of talent at their disposal, but Arsenal was able to beat Madrid over two legs.
“I am sure, in the same way as I am also pretty sure that they cannot falter in Liverpool at this stage.”
The Champions League form from Arsenal is impressive, with high scoring victories against Sport and Monaco, as well as a 7-1 rack from Eindhoven in the round of 16.
Arteta is likely to consider Europe as the best chance of his silverware this season, which has been eliminated from the FA Cup and twelve points behind leaders Liverpool is in the Premier League.
Despite the excitement of Arsenal fans about a recent decrease in the shape of Liverpool, Ladyman said that the side of Arne Slot 'will be motivated' to make the competition slide through their fingers.
Liverpool plays Merseyside Rivals Everton this week, their first fixture since eliminations in the Champions League and Carabao Cup respectively.
“Liverpool needs a psychological lift,” said Ladyman.
'It will take two and a half weeks since their loss in the Carabao Cup final when they are confronted with Everton: that physical recovery will help Liverpool.
“They will also be motivated. They have Everton at home, Fulham Gone, West Ham at home and Leicester gone. Really, they have to get enough from those four games to get the title.
“If they don't do that with the title, something would have gone very wrong.”
