Madrid and Barça are chasing a number of trophies and hope to add the Copa del Rey to LaLiga and the Champions League.
The draw for the Copa del Rey last 16 will take place on Wednesday (January 8), with Real Madrid and Barcelona set to get to know their opponents as they continue to win multiple trophies in 2024/25.
Carlo Ancelotti's team have already won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, while both teams will this week take part in the 2025 Spanish Super Cup, which takes place in Saudi Arabia.
As always, Madrid and Barça are both expected to win the LaLiga title this season. That said, the Catalans are already five points behind their Clásico rivals, while Atlético Madrid are effectively in pole position, a point behind their city rivals with a game in hand.
Hansi Flick's side are close to reaching the last 16 of the Champions League, with Real Madrid expecting to join them even if they may have to go through the play-offs after a stuttering start to the competition phase.
Additionally, Madrid will take part in the new and improved FIFA Club World Cup in the summer of 2025, meaning they could end the season with seven trophies.
The Copa del Rey may not be number one in terms of either team's priorities, but it still offers a chance to take one over the other in the never-ending race for the majority trophies.
