Coady acknowledges ‘horrible’ moment for relegation-bound Leicester

Leicester City -defender Conor Coady has acknowledged that it is a “terrible” moment for everyone in the club while the Premier League thrusters are approaching the journey from Saturday to Brighton.

Leicester was beaten 3-0 by Newcastle United on Monday at the King Power Stadium and became the first team in the history of the top four of English football that loses eight consecutive home games without scoring.

They are 15 points on drift of 17th placed wolves and could see their relegation confirm after their next two games, at the Amex Stadium and at home in Liverpool.

“It is difficult to be honest, how it has been. It gives us a terrible feeling,” Coady told Premier League Productions.

“You feel disconnection and disappointment when you get off the field. The only thing we can do is give us everything for the shirt. It has not been good enough for a few months now.

“It's hard to find trust. I don't know how many games it has been since we picked up a point for the last time.

“It's a terrible moment for the club with how we play on the field and try and get some confidence back.”

Their terrible form has led to suggestions that will have the time of Ruud van Nistelrooy, will end soon, but the Dutchman raised questions about his future after the Newcastle match.

“The most important thing is the club and these players, that's what I would say now,” said Van Nistelrooy.

Brighton has meanwhile lost back-to-back games to give up in the struggle for European qualification. They are ninth in the table, a point behind Fulham in the eighth.

They lost 2-1 of the nine-man Crystal Palace last time-out, but Jack Hinshelwood is determined to set things right for their own fans.

“The loss is hard to take, but we have had many setbacks that are usually followed by good reactions,” he said.

“I think we have to hurt this for a few days and then go back to the training field, work very hard and do what we know we do best.

“There are still many loads to play for. This will motivate us more. By the time Leicester comes, we will go on because it hurts us and our fans hurts.”

Players to watch

Brighton – Yankuba MINTEH

Minteh has been involved in seven goals in his last 10 Premier League Start for Brighton (four goals, three assists).

In general, the 20-year-old by 2024-25 has five goals and four assists, and only one African player has been involved in 10 goals in a season before he becomes 21-Peter NDLovu (10 in both 1992-93 and 1993-94 for Coventry).

Leicester City – Jamie Vardy

On Monday, Leicester became the first team in the English top-historical history that lost eight straight Home League matches without scoring. The Foxes can write more unwanted history this week, because they have also lost their last eight league matches (at home and away) to NIL.

They could be the first team to lose nine consecutive top matches without an answer in history, unless Vardy has something to say about it.

Match forecast – Brighton Win

Since Hamning Wolves 6-0 on April 29, 2023, none of their last seven Premier League matches have won that will be played in April (D2 L5) and lost each of the last four in a row.

The seagulls also have their last two Premier League matches, because many defeats as they suffered in their previous 13 (W6 D5). Since March 2022, the seagulls no longer have consecutive competitions under Graham Potter (a point of six).

But they must be extremely sure to go back to winning ways.

Only Southampton (five) has picked up (eight) less from the Premier League points this season than Leicester, where the foxes lost nine of their last 10 on the road, including the last four in a row without scoring.

Since May 2021, Leicester has not won a Weem Premier League match in Manchester United against a team that starts the day in the upper half of the table in Manchester United – they have only picked up four points in 24 games since then (D4 L20).

The Van Nistelrooy team seem to resign from their fate and there seems to be almost no chance of an upset.
