Colby Covington set for new career in different sport in ‘the next year or two’

The time of Colby Covington if a mixed martial artist at the elite level comes to an end.

That is of course clear to anyone who viewed his TKO loss against Joaquin Buckley in December.

Colby Covington has only had six fights since 2019 and he had four defeats in that period.

Now the 36-year-old after fighting is starting to think of life, which could see him try a new sport.

Colby Covington Eyes WWE -career

Covington seems a natural fit for pro wrestling after running the heel to save its UFC career in 2017.

Nowadays he is one of the most division hunters on the Roster, known for his wild trash can.

'Chaos' has a power on the microphone that could help him become a WWE super star as Ronda Rousey did after she left her MMA career because of a series of concussion.

Covington also has the athletic ability to master all movements and to become the real deal in a wrestling ring.

“I would probably say two years,” he said recently when a fan asked when he switched to WWE.

“I really want to start working on my in-ring struggling and my crowd-generated capacity in the following year or two.

“Maybe I'm going to Orlando and I go to the WWE training center. But I really want to start perfecting my vessel in the WWE with the wrestling movements and hope that I can make a transition the following year or two. “

What is the next step for Colby Covington?

There is currently no fight on the horizon, but Covington remains busy and maintains tires with the UFC.

Chael Sonnen recently revealed that Covington will be one of his coaches at the Ultimate Fighter 33.

The MMA legend is set against former Dual-Weight UFC champion Daniel Cormier for the last season of the long-term reality TV show that was designed to find the next Combat Sports Superstar.

After that, Covington will put its attention back on the 170LB division ruled by Belal Muhammad.

A fourth title shot seems very unlikely in this phase of his career – but there are still big fights to make.

Covington was able to control his feud with Ian Garry in the Octagon after years of back and forth.

Only the time will tell who he will be linked to what his last UFC fight could be before he is struggling the switch to Pro.
