Cole Palmer did not play on Chelsea's tour last summer, but his manager Enzo Maresca believes
Enzo Maresca believes that Cole Palmer will prove that he belongs in the largest stage in the world.
The English star has been sensational for Chelsea since he came to Manchester City and played an important role in the success of the UEFA Conference League of Chelsea.
Palmer gave two assists to turn the match against Real Betis in the final-where he was called man of the match-to underline his quality as a game changer on the greatest occasion.
The will of Lionel Messi, Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe are here at the Club World Cup in the United States.
And Chelsea -Baas Maresca, who knows Palmer from their days who work together at the Academy of the City, believes that the attacker is ready to perform and shine this summer.
“I said it more than once: Cole Palmer is there with the best players who can produce something at any time, create something out of nothing,” said Maresca.
“He was not at the USA Tour last summer, so it will also be an opportunity for him to experience the environment there and introduce himself to North -America.”
Palmer is the Great Hope of Chelsea and also blooms as a huge player for England after he found in the past seasons at Stamford Bridge.
Maresca has embraced the talent of Palmer and the English star played a major role in Chelsea and ended the season on a high.
Chelsea won the Conference League, while they also qualified for the Champions League next season, a declaration of intent for the club.
Maresca is looking forward to the World Cup Club, because he believes it will be a big chance for Chelsea to show that they belong to the best. Chelsea plays their opening match in group D against Los Angeles FC in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Monday evening.
Maresca said: “Football unites and in this competition, given that there are so many cultures involved, it will also unite many cultures. Football unites people in terms of both emotions and circumstances.
“I am happy, especially because it is a tournament that brings together the top 32 teams in the world. It is exciting to participate in such a huge competition. And you also have the chance to tackle other top coaches and some world -class teams.
“We were there – in North – America – last summer, and it was great. There were so many fans there and it will be another chance for them to see us watching and for us to meet them. It will be a great opportunity.
“The fans in America were spectacular from the start. As far as culture is concerned, Brazilian fans usually create a great atmosphere, it is part of their culture. They are usually happy and incredibly entertaining.
“So with their football culture with ours, hopefully we can ensure that the people who come to watch the game in the stadium have a great time.”
But Maresca is also adamant that Chelsea will not make up for the figures – they believe they can win the trophy. After Monday they are confronted with further competitions in group D with Flamengo and Es Tunis.
Maresca added: “If you are at Chelsea, your goal is always to win. So, our goal – every game – will always be to try to win.”
