Liverpool Talisman Mohamed Salah is in more ways comparable to Arsenal icon Thierry Henry than you would think – including a surprising waste record in cup final.
Salah and Henry are undoubtedly two of the greatest attacking players we have seen in the Premier League era. Their shameful figures speak for themselves, and over the years they have given us countless iconic goals in large games.
But the two players have had little impact when it comes to finals, each manage only one goal and one assistant in the most important final in which they played.
It is often said that Henry never scored in a large cup final in his career. Strictly speaking, that is not where Henry scored the extra time 'Golden Goal' (remember?) Match winner in France in French Confederations Cup Final Victory in Cameroon.

Henry attracted a blank in the defeat 2000 UEFA Cup Penalty Shootout to Galatasaray, the FA Cup FA Cup FA Cup -Letterag from 2001 against Liverpool, the FA Cup FA Cup FA Cup winning on ChelSea and the Fa Cup FA Cup -overinning
He was injured and absent with the aimless FA Cup final of 2005 (won on penalties) against Manchester United, and he never played in a competition cup final during his eight years in the English game.
After leaving Arsenal, he lifted the Champions League trophy with Barcelona, but he did not score or assisted in the 2009 final against Manchester United, nor their last victory of the World Cup of 2009 over Estudiantes. A knee injury kept him out of the Copa del Rey final in Barca's historic 2008-09 Treble Year.
Henry was an unused replacement in the last victory of the World Cup of France from 1998 against Brazil, but played (without scoring or assisting) in the Euro 2000 last victory over Italy.
He also failed to engage a target contribution in Les Bleus' World Cup of 2006 about penalties against Italy, any moments before the infamous red card of Zidane.
Salah has lost five of the nine major finals he disputed with Egypt and Liverpool. His nation suffered defeats in the Finals 2017 and 2021, while his record is decided in seven finals for the Reds.
The 32-year-old has set up Mohamed Elneny in the AFCON Final 2017, in which Cameroon came from behind to win 2-1. He also put Liverpool ahead of the criminal place in the 2019 Champions League final, the 2-0 win over Spurs.
Salah has never scored a goal from Open Spel in a grand finale, while he has not succeeded in registering an assist in the seven final he started for Liverpool.
The 2-1 defeat of Liverpool in the League Cup final against Newcastle was a well-known story for their Egyptian king. It is the sixth time (2018 Champions League -Final, 2019 Club World Cup Final, 2022 FA Cup final, 2022 League Cup final and 2022 Champions League finale the five earlier) that he has drawn a blank in a big final for the club. They won three and lost three of the final.
But he had an accident on the biggest stages, injured by Sergio Ramos in the last defeat of the Champions League for Real Madrid 2018 and forced in the first half of the 2022 FA Cup Fa-Baiter of the Reds 2022 FA Cup (a goal-free draw) against Chelseea.
The injury also excluded him from the 2024 League Cup final, in which the children of Jurgen Klopp Memorabel Memorabel the “Blue Billion-Pound Bottle Jobs” of Chelsea.
