‘Completely false’ – PSG vehemently deny club sale reports

L'Équipe reported on Wednesday that sources close to Qatar's emir indicate that Paris Saint-Germain owner Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani may be open to selling the club in the event of a good offer.

The report added that this did not mean QSI wanted to sell PSG, but rather that they were open to the possibility amid waning interest in the wake of the 2022 World Cup, which was being held in Qatar. In the wake of that tournament, there is reportedly an increasing sense of detachment from the Ligue 1 giants, who have dominated domestically since purchasing QSI in 2011.

However, in response to the report, a PSG spokesperson, speaking to Ben Jacobs, vehemently refuted suggestions that they would be willing to sell, citing their recent significant investments.

“This is completely untrue, the same newspaper writes the same nonsense week after week,” the statement began, specifically referring to the L'Équipe piece.

“The shareholders have just spent €350 million on Poissy, while further major expansions to the Campus have just been announced, and want to invest hundreds of millions in a new stadium, while increasing our investment in football, sports and entertainment, but apparently we have run out looking to sell,” the statement concluded as QSI sought to publicly underline their continued commitment to PSG.
