Defenders Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez are in a race to be fit for the Premier League seal opener of Liverpool against Bournemouth, live on Sky Sports on Friday, August 15.
Reds boss Arne Slot revealed that Bradley and Gomez had doubts about both the Community Shield against Crystal Palace in Wembley next weekend as the Premier League opener at home in Bournemouth, but there was better news about Captain Virgil van Dijk and goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
When asked whether one of that quartet ran the risk of running offside for the matches against Palace and Bournemouth, Slot said: “Virgil normally not.
“Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley, it will be tight. Alisson will also be back in time.”
Van Dijk and Bradley missed the friendly matches of Liverpool against Athletic Club in Anfield on Monday for illness and a small injury respectively.
In the meantime, Alisson and Gomez did not remained available after leaving the Liverpool tour through Asia.
“Almost all of them have remained fit of fit,” said Liverpoolfc.com.
“Unfortunately, Virgil is sick today [Monday]. We miss Alisson. Joe Gomez is not there, Conor Bradley is not there.
“But so far we have stayed fit as we wanted to be, and new signing sessions came in, so they were adapted to what we want. First of all, they look forward to today and then to the following weeks.”
Liverpool hopes that the players will recover soon if they start the defense of their Premier League title at home against Bournemouth on Friday, August 15, live on Sky Sports.
The side of Slot will then visit Newcastle on August 23 before he met the League Runner-Runners-up Arsenal on 30 August.
