Conor McGregor bounced back from Khabib Nurmagomedov loss with unique 40-second knockout

'The Mac' bounced back from a huge defeat in style with the second fastest finish of his career in 2020.

It now seems more and more likely that the days of Conor McGregor who competes in MMA are behind us after his recent career update.

Although the will of Mauricio Ruffy are compared to McGregor, no one has been able to match 'the notorious' when it comes to the attention he attracted.

The public perception of the Irish superstar has experienced many ups and downs over the years, but there was simply nothing else like it was when he was at the height of his powers.

The focus of McGregor can now be on BKFC, where he is a part-owner of the promotion, but his performance in the Octagon is still remarkable about reflection.

Conor McGregor dismantled Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone after opening with devastating shoulder attacks

On UFC 229, Conor McGregor was short of the largest mixed martial arts competition of all time, where he returned to the lightweight division to challenge the champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

'The Notorious' had already damaged his reputation by various cases that took place, but after the ugly fight after the fight that took place in the aftermath of the main event on October 6 in 2018, no one came out of the situation that looked great, even if it followed an impressive performance of 'The Eagle'.

In January 2020, McGregor looked to rejuvenate his MMA career and go back to winning ways by returning against a legend of the sport in Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone.

There were questions prior to the fight about Cerrone's ability to tackle the pressure of fighting under the brightest lights and he could not answer them on UFC 246 after a thrilling start of his opponent.

McGregor quickly came out of the blocks and quickly landed some shoulder attacks in the conflict that immediately caused significant damage to Cerrone's nose with a technique that you rarely see that effectively used.

Within the first 20 seconds, even though the left hand of 'The Mac' was such a feared weapon, it was a left high staircase that did the damage.

The kick landed clean and signaled the start of the end with McGregor who hit his opponent with a flying knee and several big follow -up punches to get the finish in just 40 seconds.

In his interview after the fight, McGregor was mainly enthusiastic about the now to have UFC knockouts in three weight classes, so that what he intended would be a busy year of activity for him in 2020.

The COVID-19 Pandemie had other ideas, because the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion would not go back in the Octagon for another year.

Conor McGregor's victory over Donald Cerrone in 2020 could be the last time he got his hand lifted

Because writing was apparently on the wall with regard to Conor McGregor's pension of the competition, his victory over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 will probably fall as the last victory of his career.

At the time, it seemed that we would completely get the opposite, whereby the Irishman was incredibly passionate about staying active and putting together three fights that year to get him back on track.

He went to fight twice the next year in his back-to-back collisions with Dustin Poirier, but the injury he suffered in their trilogy on UFC 264 would rule McGregor for a few years.

It could have been very different if he had been back to return to an increased activity, but at the moment it seems that the very first UFC Champ camp will retire with a record of 22-6.
