Conor McGregor drops major hint about next fight as he shares five minutes of new training footage

After another year of inactivity in 2024, Conor McGregor has dropped a hint that his return to combat sports could be imminent as he posted five minutes of new training footage.

The combat sports world has been without Conor McGregor for more than three years after he suffered a broken ankle in his last fight against Dustin Poirier in 2021.

Despite this, the Irishman recently revealed he is in talks to fight Logan Paul in the boxing ring after being offered the fight by an Indian businessman.

Conor McGregor shares new training footage as he drops a hint

Although 'The Notorious' revealed that he will likely fight 'The Maverick' next with the support of the UFC, it has since been reported that a fight against Jake Paul is also on the table.

However, the 36-year-old has since shared five minutes of new training footage showing him and his training partner going through the grip moves.

Fans were surprised to see the former UFC double champion practicing his submission game, given the recent revelation of his likely return to the boxing ring.

Midway through their five-minute session, McGregor caught his training partner in a guillotine, resulting in his partner being tagged.

Worryingly, after just over two minutes of training, McGregor lay on the ground, visibly tired from the action.

After a short break, the pair continued their session, which led to the Irishman securing a trip outside and keeping his training partner in complete control.

McGregor then locked in a reverse bulldog choke, causing his training partner to tap again. Fans questioned his training partner's credentials, but he was probably just competing with an obviously huge McGregor.

Fans react to the training footage shared by Conor McGregor

Training footage has the power to make a fighter look like a world beater, or do the opposite and make a fighter look like he's new to everything.

With everything McGregor does, the new footage is drawing a lot of criticism from the UFC fanbase, with many fans believing he will never step back into the Octagon again.

“Bro, are you ever fighting in the UFC again?” one fan asked.

However, one fan was more certain that he won't fight in the UFC again, noting, “Conor isn't fighting in the Octagon anymore.”

Despite the criticism, one fan was more supportive of the former UFC doubles champion, claiming the 36-year-old will find success in the Octagon once again, saying: “Conor will be a doubles champion again, mark my words!”
