Conor McGregor has been inactive of the Octagon since 2021, when he broke his leg brutally during his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier.

Since then, the former UFC Double Champion has been active in promoting BKFC events, because he is now co-owner of the bare boxing promotion.

More recently, McGregor hinted at retirement of the UFC, and stated that he is happy with everything he has achieved in the sport and will now focus his attention on President of Ireland.

That said, prior to the Blockbuster UFC 314-CO-Main event, McGregor has dropped a huge hint that he is looking at the winner of Chandler vs Pimblett for a shock return to the UFC.

“I am interested in the fight of Chandler/Pimblett this weekend,” McGregor said in a post on his Instagram.

'The Notorious' was of course planned to return to the Octagon last year to compete against Chandler on UFC 303, but McGregor withdrew from the combat weeks because of a broken toe.

The Irishman has since plagued to return several times, and 'Iron' Chandler remained hopeful that he would be the opponent if the 36-year-old decided to make his expected comeback.

If the deployment was not yet high enough in the UFC 314-Co-Main event, McGregor undoubtedly raised them, because even Pimblett has spoken historically about wanting to fight against McGregor.

Conor McGregor could return to action from October

Nevertheless, the return of the former double champions can still get a potential delay, because according to the UFC-Anti-Doping database, McGregor has still not registered a test session in 2025.

Fighters must be in the test pool for at least six months before they can return to action, which means that the McGregor comeback could only take place at least October.

However, since he recently never teased under the UFC banner, his recent comments will certainly reinstall some hope in the fan base.
