Conor McGregor reacts as massive Logan Paul fight purse and 34,000-seat venue are reported by troll account

Conor McGregor has retweeted an article claiming he and Logan Paul will split a half-billion dollar pot for their touted fight next year.

Earlier this month, McGregor claimed he had made 'tentative arrangements' to meet the YouTuber in an exhibition boxing match next year. He labeled the fight as a battle between WWE and UFC, claiming it would be financed by the mega-rich Ambani family.

It appears the fight will take place in India and would be the Irishman's first time officially boxing since his 2017 crossover fight with Floyd Mayweather. Meanwhile, it would be Paul's first in-ring appearance since beating Dillon Danis in a farcical display in 2023.

Conor McGregor retweets further details about the Logan Paul fight, including location and purse

This afternoon, an article from Fightbook MMA seemed to offer many more details about the future clash. The author reported that the fight would be part of Visit India's tourism campaign, and reiterated that the Ambani family would finance it.

He also claimed that the fight would take place at the 34,000-capacity Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, which is best known for hosting cricket. And perhaps most interestingly, he reported that the couple would split 50/50 on a $500 million pot.

However, the basis for the piece appears to be a notorious social media troll posing as former TalkSport editor Michael Benson. The journalist, who now works for The Ring Magazine, had a famous news aggregation account with an iconic profile photo that he ceded to the magazine this month.

A copycat account that bought a blue checkmark on X now claims to be Benson, writing in his style and citing legitimate sources. However, he is making up the news, and his quotes do not indicate that any journalist has ever said such a thing.

Conor McGregor took note of this article and it didn't seem like he messed it up or its contents at all. He retweeted the author's post with a link and captioned his retweet with an Indian flag and love heart emoji. There is no news on a date for the collision.

Conor McGregor claimed he has agreed to meet Logan Paul next year

On December 17, Conor McGregor turned to X and claimed he had made 'tentative arrangements' for a fight with Logan Paul. Logan is the brother of YouTuber boxer Jake Paul, who has been calling for a fight with McGregor throughout his career.

However, it appears the fight will be with the older and bigger sibling, who hasn't fought nearly as much or at as high a level as his brother. “The rumors of a fight with [UFC featherweight champion Ilia] Topuria is false,” McGregor wrote at the time.

“I have made preliminary arrangements with the Ambani family to meet Logan Paul at a boxing exhibition in India. I agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.” Logan responded by sharing an eyes emoji during a post about the fight, but otherwise remained mum on the rumors.

He even listed a series of goals for 2025 in a YouTube video released yesterday, making no mention of fighting at all. He did tease a “big announcement” after discussing his brother Jake's fight with Mike Tyson, but remained vague.
