Conte thrilled to lead Napoli to title; offers hope on staying

The victory over Cagliari on Friday evening confirmed Napoli as champions.

A triumphant conte said at the last whistle: 'It happened again and it is something great.

“When we arrived in the stadium, it was honestly difficult to come in, because I don't know how many people there were. I had a small thought, if we abandoned these people, it would be something we had with us for a long time.

“These guys were fantastic, it was not easy, because the pressure on us was insane, but we were confronted with the game in the best way. It has been an extraordinary campaign and the boys deserve the honor because they want to challenge themselves again, especially those who won two years ago and then ended 10th last season.”

Most difficult challenge of my career

Conte confirmed earlier claims that this season was the “most challenging” of his career.

He also said: “It was certainly the most unexpected, difficult and stimulating challenge of my career. To get to Napoli after 10th place and to try to get everything back on track, because it was all previously finished last season and convinced some of the best players to stay because we could do something positive.

“The opening 0-0 with Modena in the Coppa Italia and 3-0 defeat against Verona in the Serie A, to be here to celebrate the Scudetto, it was just incredible.”

Asked to stay next season for their return from Champions League, Conte was positive.

He added: “We enjoy everything. I have a good relationship with the president. Let's say we had the chance to get to know each other this season, we are two winners. We may be winners in different ways, but we are both winners.”
