Peter Schmeichel has hit Mikel Arteta as a “control freak” that makes Arsenal players “worse”.
The Manchester United icon tore in the Gunners boss for yesterday's 2-2 draw with Liverpool.
Schmeichel, who had a punditry obligation for ViaSpel in Anfield, blamed Arteta for Arsenal who is again inadequate this season to win something.
The legendary goalkeeper led to the manager of the failures on the field and on the transfer market.
And despite the fact that he spends £ 650 million in transfers, Arteta's only piece of silverware is the FA Cup 2020 that he won with his predecessor Unai Emery's team.
Schmeichel said: “It's all on Arteta, everything I say is that he worked as a head coach. He inherited the team and that team is the only team with which he won a trophy.
“Then it is now his own team and in the process he has changed the job description, so he is now the manager.
“Everything is on him. It's not a recruitment, it's not the board.
“I would encourage the viewer if they get the chance to view him in the technical area. Arteta is a control freak, he wants his players to play the ball he wants. He directs everything.
“You look at Arne Slot, who is so calm. He has instructed his players in training, instructed the players in the team.
“Arteta still plays the game for the players and that would confuse me as a football player that you had a coach who wants to direct me for everything I do.
“It would confuse me and make me a worse player.”
Arteta cut a frustrated figure on the sidelines yesterday and saw the air start up in anger while his side lagged behind 2-0.
He then launched an anger after the game when he was asked what things are upset about the performance of Arsenal.
Arteta raged: “Many parts, especially defending, the standards we have and the mistakes after we had given away the ball.
'Very far away. Really upset, yes we had a response. I hate the reaction I love action. I was really, really upset.
“What I saw in the first 25 minutes, 35 minutes. Some actions … I was killed myself.”
