The 38-year-old remains a free agent since parting ways with Sevilla last summer.
Sergio Ramos has become a name on the wanted list of Argentine giants Boca Juniors. Buenos Aires-based media report that the club is plotting an acquisition strategy and plans to contact the experienced defender with a view to bringing him into the squad in January 2025.
The former Real Madrid and PSG player has been without a club since July last year after both he and Sevilla FC went their separate ways. Despite a complicated season for Sanchez Pizjuan's team, which had three different coaches (Mendilibar, Diego Alonso and Quique Sánchez Flores), Ramos was a standout player in the team. His Seville team was eliminated in the group stage of the Champions League with just two points from six games. They finished 14th in the league and did not progress beyond the quarter-finals in the Copa del Rey (1-3 against Atlético de Madrid).
Ramos ready to play
The Camas defender showed that, despite his 38 years, he is capable of performing at the highest level. His time at the Andalusian club overshadowed his time at PSG, where an injury ruined his time at the Ligue 1 club.
With the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup looming next summer, Boca president Juan Román Riquelme is keen to field two legends like Edinson Cavani and Sergio Ramos and boost the team's international appeal.
Ramos will have to accept a significant cut from the salary he enjoyed in Paris and Seville, and recent reports on social media suggest the veteran player is doing everything he can to stay in shape.
