CR7 embraces Piers Morgan in reunion of their bombshell interview in 2022

Piers Morgan reunited more than two years after their impressive interview with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Morgan was in Riyadh and watched Ronaldo's side Al-Nassr claim a 3-1 victory over Al Fateh on Sunday evening.

The Portuguese superstar got on the scoresheet with three minutes to go and thought he scored another goal in the closing stages of the Saudi Pro League match.

The 39-year-old fired a thunderous shot into the top corner from a tight angle, but after a VAR review the goal was disallowed for offside.

Ronaldo embraced Morgan with a hug next to the tunnel when the match ended and the latter was surprised that the goal did not stand.

Morgan said to the veteran, “What happened there? You've been robbed. Ridiculous.'

He then posted on social media: 'BREAKING: Ronaldo was robbed of a brilliant 'offside' goal tonight, but at least he got a consolation hug from me. Nice to see you again'

Morgan's affinity for Ronaldo comes after the five-time Ballon d'Or winner gave a bombshell interview to the presenter in late 2022, in which he accused Man United of 'betraying' him and claimed he had no respect for old boss Erik ten Hag .

Ronaldo eventually agreed to leave United by mutual consent midway through his second season.

Just over a month later, Ronaldo would land an eye-watering £175m-a-year deal with Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr – kicking off a revolution of high-profile players to join him in the country's top division for large sums of money. money.

And Morgan has continued to support the striker since his departure from the Premier League.

After Ten Hag's dismissal in October, the 59-year-old wrote: 'Every word @Cristiano told me about Ten Hag in our explosive interview came from events.

'He was an over-promoted, delusional, disrespectful and thoroughly mediocre manager who could not handle world-class talent or run a club of that size.'

Despite his second goal being disallowed, Ronaldo's goal on Sunday took his season tally to 14 in the Saudi Pro League and 20 in all competitions.

Ronaldo also tops the league's scoring charts, two goals ahead of former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema in second place.

However, despite their captain's impressive form, Al-Nassr remain eight points behind leaders Al-Hilal in the title race, having played one more match.
