CR7 nets his 20th goal of the season for Al-Nassr

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his twentieth goal of the season on Sunday as Al-Nassr defeated Al Fateh.

As Al-Nassr led their opponents in the closing stages at Al-Awwal Park, Ronaldo got on the end of a driven cross from former Liverpool star Sadio Mane to seal victory for his side.

The goal marked the 920th goal of Ronaldo's impressive career, more than 20 years after he scored his first goal for boyhood club Sporting Lisbon and just days before his 40th birthday.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner looked to have added another goal to his tally in the closing stages with an incredible solo effort.

After receiving the ball on the edge of the penalty area, Ronaldo slipped past a defender before firing his shot past the goalkeeper.

However, the stunning effort was ultimately ruled out by VAR, with an incredulous Ronaldo later telling an on-pitch TV camera: “Always against me, always cancel my goals.”

Ronaldo was seen hugging long-time friend Piers Morgan after the match, with the veteran journalist later writing on social media that the Portuguese had been 'robbed'.

He wrote: 'BREAKING: Ronaldo was robbed of a brilliant offside goal tonight, but at least he got a comforting hug from me. Nice to see you again'

Despite his second goal being disallowed, Ronaldo's goal on Sunday took his season tally to 14 in the Saudi Pro League and 20 in all competitions.

Ronaldo also tops the league's scoring charts, two goals ahead of former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema in second place.

However, despite their captain's impressive form, Al-Nassr remain eight points behind leaders Al-Hilal in the title race, having played one more match.
