Two years after moving to the Saudi Pro League, CR7 is reportedly unhappy with the team's performance on the pitch.
As he approaches the halfway point of his third season with Al Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo seems unlikely to end the team's wait for a tenth title year in the Saudi Pro League. The team is fourth in the league, behind Al Ittihad, Al Hilal and Al Qadisiyah.
Ronaldo continued his impressive form in the 2024/25 season, taking his tally to 74 goals in 83 appearances for Al Nassr. But with his current contract set to expire in June 2025, there are rumors that CR7 could be considering a move.
CNN in Portugal reports that Ronaldo is considering his future with Al Nassr, who has failed to achieve consistent success during his time there. So far, his only trophy with Al Nassr is the 2023 Arab Champions Cup.
The Portuguese icon turns 40 in February and wants to give himself the best chance to expand his enormous silverware collection in the final years of his career. With 916 goals to his name, the prospect of becoming the first player to reach 1,000 professional goals remains incredibly within reach.
Cristiano Ronaldo contract duration and salary details
When Ronaldo left Manchester United under a cloud in January 2022, he became one of the first global stars to sign for a Saudi club. His signing was a turning point in the history of Saudi football and state-funded Al Nassr had to offer a huge financial package to secure his signature.
He signed a two-and-a-half-year contract worth $200 million per year with Al Nassr, comfortably the largest of its kind in the entire sport at the time.
As he enters the final six months of that record deal, his future in Saudi Arabia looks uncertain. In theory, he can now negotiate a new deal with clubs outside the Saudi Pro League. Leaving without a championship would be a major disappointment for everyone involved, but CR7 will do everything he can to maximize the time he has left in the professional game.
