For one and a half decade the debate around who should be recognized as the best player in the world, was largely a discussion with only two players.
The Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi Duopoly about Messrs Ballon d'Or was only broken twice between 2008 and 2023 – by Luka Modric in 2018 and then by Karim Benzema four years later.
But the era of Ronaldo and Messi who dominate the world game is apparently over. Messi, now 37 and play for Inter Miami, and Ronaldo, who will turn 40 next week and is currently located in Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr, both did not reach the top 30 in the Ballon d'Or Voice last year.
So if one of those guys is no longer 1, who is then?
Well, Rodri won the 2024 edition of the Ballon d'Or, with Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham who became second and third.
According to Ronaldo's son Mateo – who recently celebrated his eighth birthday – the best baller on the planet is now the man who finished sixth in last year's mood.
Recently spoken with La Sexta, Ronaldo revealed that he and Mateo disagree about the current world order.
Ronaldo explained: 'Mateo, he really likes it [Kylian] Mbappe. He sometimes tells me: “Hey daddy, Mbappe is better than you”, and I answer by saying, “No, I am better than he, I have scored more goals.”
Ronaldo has indeed scored considerably more goals than Mbappe will probably ever do.
The former Star Real Madrid and Manchester United currently has 920 goals during his career, including 135 for Portugal at international level.
Those 920 strikes came in 1,259 performances for Club and Land.
In the meantime, 26-year-old Mbappe has set 349 goals of the first team so far during a 487 game career.
Mbappe, who started his career at Monaco, left Paris last year after he became PSG's leading scorer with 256 goals in 308 performances.
Since he moved to Spain, he has registered 22 goals in 33 outings for Real Madrid.
With talking about a new Al-Nassr contract on the table, Ronaldo was able to continue to add plausibly to his goal post far into his forty.
However, his greatest legacy is perhaps the family he has built.
The Portuguese superstar is a father for five children, including Mateo and twin sister Eva, who were born through Surrogate in 2017.
The eldest son Cristiano JR, who was also born through Surrogate, is currently 14 and a member of the Al-Nassr Youth Team.
Ronaldo shares his youngest two children, Alana Martina, Seven, and Bella Esmeralda, two, with long -term partner Georgina Rodriguez.
Rodriguez expected twins during her most recent pregnancy, but Bella's brother Angel died tragically during the birth in 2022.
