Criticised Barcelona star breaks silence after Champions League exit

Barcelona saw their Champions League dreams go up earlier this week, and in the midst of the criticism that came, one player was selected by supporters because he played an important role in the defeat against Inter: Ronald Araujo.

Araaujo was introduced as a replacement for the second half with the San Siro, and he was accused of playing a role in the two goals that Inter scored while standing on the field. He did not succeed in Francesco Acerbi for Inter's Late Equalizer, and he was also unable to stop Marcus Thuram in the run -up to the winner of the Nerazzurri, who was scored by Davide Frattesi.

On the back of this, ARAUJO received a lot of abuse on social media, and there have also been reports that Barcelona is worried about whether he is good enough to stay in the club in the future.

Araujo has taken the time to consider everything, and according to Semper Barca he has now written a message via Instagram.

“I accept it and I acknowledge it. I have never been to hide, and I will never be … It hurts to be gone, but this does not end here. We have worked, we fought, and we gave everything in a very heavy series. It was not enough, and that hurts.”

The Uruguayan defender is also proud of his pride of his teammates for their performance at the San Siro, and he is now looking ahead to Sunday's El Clasico confrontation in the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Company.

“But I am also proud of this team. From my teammates, from the top we represent, and of every 'culé' that stood by the road with us. In this 2025 we have, as a team and as a fan base, the winning mentality we have. El Clásico is coming and we are our everything to give.
