Crystal Palace 1-1 Chelsea: Mateta equaliser means more frustration for Maresca

Jean-Philippe Mateta equalized eight minutes from time to secure Crystal Palace a point in an entertaining 1-1 draw against Chelsea.

Enzo Maresca's side will have plenty of missed opportunities to win the match, with Nicolas Jackson and Premier League debutant Josh Acheampong guilty of misses.

Cole Palmer had given the visitors the lead after some fine play from Jadon Sancho in the 14th minute.

However, that was Chelsea's only shot on target in the match, and Palace equalized late on.

Mateta had been Palace's biggest threat all along and he converted from Eberechi Eze's square pass.

The draw moves Palace six points clear of the bottom three in 15th place, while Chelsea remain fourth and their title hopes are fast fading.

Jadon Sancho has provided four assists in the Premier League this season after his brilliant run and pass for Cole Palmer's opener today.

Data debrief: Sancho shows his best side

Although Chelsea were guilty of missed chances, Sancho produced another impressive moment in the latest sign of him rediscovering his best form.

The winger registered his fourth assist for the season when he delivered a pass across the pitch and slotted the ball through for Palmer to finish in the first half. These are more assists than he managed in one season for Manchester United.

He was also joint top of all Chelsea players for pass accuracy rate in the final third, while only Palmer (five) created more chances than Sancho's two.

This may not be a title-winning campaign for the Blues, but getting Sancho sacked would be a victory of sorts.
