Crystal Palace is interested in re-signing England midfielder Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid.
The Premier League side still has to submit a formal offer for Gallagher, 25, but are interested in bringing it back to Selhurst Park.
In the meantime, Atletico would prefer a permanent deal above a loan movement if the interest progresses. The Spanish side believes that he is also interested in the Premier League elsewhere.
Gallagher, 25, spent the 2021-22 season on loan in Palace from Chelsea, scored eight goals in 34 league matches and became the player of the club's season.
The midfielder came to Atletico last summer in a move of € 42 million (£ 36.4 million; $ 49.2 million).
Gallagher signed a five-year-old deal when moving to Atletico that continues until 2029. He played 50 times during his debut season in Spain, but was in and out of the starting line-up during the second half of the campaign, with 13 of his 32 LA Liga performances from the bank.
The international of England started Atletico's first game of the new season, but was replaced during the break, before he came to Elche in the second half of Saturday's 1-1.
In the meantime, Palace has started Will Hughes alongside Adam Wharton in the central midfield during their two Premier League matches of the 2025-26 season, after Daichi Kamada was injured in the community shield. Kamada has since returned to the training. Oliver Glasner also has Jefferson Lerma available in the position, in addition to the injured Cheick Doucoure.
Gallagher was selected by Thomas Tuchel for the matches of England against Andorra and Senegal in June. Tuchel will mention his English team for the qualifying matches of September on Friday.
Palace has drawn their opening competition against Chelsea and Nottingham Forest and will be opposed to the Norwegian side Fredrikstad in the second stage of their play-off of the conference on Thursday.
