Crystal Palace player ratings: Munoz magic man in FA Cup final, Henderson shines but Mateta fails big-stage audition

Crystal Palace has written history after beating Manchester City in a pulsating FA Cup final.

Ebereechi Eze was the hero of the Eagles when the men of Oliver Glasner held up for a dramatic 1-0 win.

It sealed the very first domestic big trophy of Palace in their 119-year history.

Eze made the underdogs ahead against the game in the first half and finished beautifully from a Daniel Munoz -Kruis.

Dean Henderson was inspired in the goal of the palace and made several excellent saves – including the penalty of Omar Marmoush.

But there was a question whether he should have stayed on the field after he seemed to treat outside the box.

In the end Palace achieved a deserved victory due to an excellent rear -guard action and some highlights.

This is how Sunssports then King rated the history makers of Glasner at Wembley.

Dean Henderson – 9

Early saves from Erling Haaland and Josko Gvardiol.

Should not have been on the field to save Omar Marmoush's penalty, because they have escaped a red card for earlier handball in one way or another.

Made a good stop from Jeremy Doku.

Less pressure in the second half to two late saves from Echeverri.

Marc Guehi – 8

The performance of a captain as part of the three-man defense of Palace until he was enforced.

Absolutely crucial header under his own bar after a Henderson Save.

Take a ball hard in the face and had to leave the field.

Maxence Lacroix – 7

Least impressive from the middle behind, but still solid enough because Palace was firm in the first half.

Important header away from Haaland early in the second and more responsibility after Guehi went off.

Haaland kept quite quiet.

Chris Richards – 9

Calm and composed under city pressure.

It always seemed to be in the right place to clean up when the attacks were broken.

Won some important headers. And made some important interventions.

Excellent collaboration with Munoz.

Tyrick Mitchell – 7

Played his role in resisting the siege of the city.

Seemed to have all the good work of his and Palace with a challenge on Silva that the penalty gave.

But kept his head well and went well with Savinho.

Daniel Munoz – 9

Held his cool defense in the box, unlike Mitchell, which made it an important challenge for Nico O'Reilly in the second half.

Brilliant cross for Eze -purpose and another that SARR almost converted.

Had the goal rightly excluded for offside in the structure.

Tireless display.

Adam Wharton – 8

Very disciplined performance without the ball, holding its position and choosing moments well to make challenges.

Some decent passes too, when the time was ripe.

Easy to see why city and others want him.

Daichi Kamada – 8

A lot of energy from the start, although not always with the outcome he had wanted.

Passing improved when the game continued and made an excellent challenge on Silva early in the second half.

Ismaila Sarr – 6

Did not always want to be as high as Glasner and did not offer much of an outlet when Palace returned the ball.

Could have made it 2-0, but hadn't completely catching his first half.

Did not really improve after the break.

Ebereechi Eze – 7

Nice volleyed goal was probably his first meaningful contribution.

Did not defend the way Baas Glasner wanted and was unable to impose himself in the last third part.

Fierce effort that was blocked was only the moment of the second half.

Jean -Philippe Mateta – 7

Munoz widely found in the structure of the opening goal but otherwise quite ineffective, refuge to a number of play-acting in the first half.

The strange header won when Palace cleaned up their lines in the second half, but a frustrating day.

Replacement

Jefferson Lerma (for Guehi, 61) – had previously filled in the middle, but never in such circumstances. He and the club proudly have a Nederveless half hour: 7

Eddie Nketiah (for Mateta, 78) – needed to offer more than the man he had replaced and just about, at least by buying errors: 6

Will Hughes (for Wharton, 87) – The cult hero came up to try to look the game: 6
