Crystal Palace rejected an offer from Tottenham for England -defender Marc Guehi during the weekend.
It is again a setback for traces in their constant search for reinforcements in what turns out to be a frustrating transfer window in January for the Noord -London club.
Tottenham has also been rejected in their attempts to sign Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich and Fikayo Tomori from AC Milan. Both players are supposed to have rejected the chance of moving to Tottenham.
Guehi is expected to stay in Palace during this window. Newcastle and Spurs can breathe new life into their interest in the summer when he enters the last year of his deal.
Chelsea also wanted to re -sign this window from Guehi before they decided to recall Trevoh Chalobah from his loan in Palace.
Spurs want to add another defender after the signing of Kevin Danso. They ended their pursuit of Chelsea defender Axel Disasi earlier on Deadline Day.
The side of Ange Postecoglou has suffered various injuries in the center of defense. Radu Dragusin picked up a worrying knee injury last week in their Europa League victory on Elfsborg, with Cristian Romero also on the sidelines.
Micky van de Ven has just returned from a long -term injury and was not mentioned on Sunday in Spurs' Matchday Squad Sky Sports.
'An important show of solidarity and support from Palace'
Michael Bridge from Sky Sports News on the Ground Training Ground by Tottenham:
“Spurs really needs a center-back. There are reports that Radu Dragusin's injury is more serious than first feared. They signed Kevin Danso on Saturday evening for Lens for around £ 21 million.
“Deadline day is usually quite busy here and stories come from nowhere. The story we get now, through widespread reports, is that Crystal Palace has rejected an £ 70 million offer from Spurs for Marc Guehi.
“That is an important development – also big money that the palace has been rejected. Given his contract length [Guehi’s deal expires in 2026] That is a real show of solidarity and support from Palace's side for keeping Guehi.
“We brought your news in the summer of the four rejected bids from Newcastle for Guehi, which was happy to stay.”
