Cunha’s 5 transfer options as Premier League giants eye wantaway Wolves star

Wolverhampton Wanderers top scorer Matheus Cunha signed a new contract with the club earlier this season, but remains strongly connected to a relocation of Molineux.

Despite the holding of Matheus Cunha in the mid -January interest, Wolverhampton Wanderers seem to lose their top scorer this summer. International Brazil signed a contract extension in January, but that is no guarantee that he will stay in Molineux.

The new Cunha deal comes with a release clause of approximately £ 62.5 million. It seems unlikely that he could leave less than that, but this month he indicated that he will probably move in the summer.

“I had many offers (to leave in January), but I would not feel good if I had done it,” Cunha told The Guardian. “Some things you can't control, but I couldn't leave the club in the middle of the season, in a difficult situation, in the relegation zone.

“Now we are almost achieving our goal [of staying up]. But I made it clear that I have to take the next step. I want to fight for titles, for great things. I have potential. “

Arsenal belonged to the interested parties in January, but they are not the only ones who could jump in the summer. Here, Mirror Football elaborates on the potential lovers of the striker.

Arsenal

Arsenal's attacking misery was uncovered when the injury struck in January and February. With Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus excluded for the season, and Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli only come back in the fight, the team of Mikel Arteta has trouble goal in the competition.

Cunha was one of the two players in January, together with Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa. They could return in the summer, but other goals – including Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike – have also been considered.

Much will depend on the preferences of Andrea Berta. The Italian has become a member of the new sports director of Arsenal and may have his own ideas when it comes to what they need in a striker.

Liverpool

Although Arsenal's approach can be motivated by a current defect within the team, Liverpool's will hang on the future of those who are already at the club. Mohamed Salah is without a contract in the summer and he may not be the only one leaving.

It is still to be seen whether Salah will remain, and indeed what kind of profile of Forward the Reds want to replace him if he does. Cunha could become a handy successor to Darwin Nunez instead of Salah, but with the Uruguayan still linked to a Saudi -Pro League switch.

Cunha scored five Wolves goals in 2025, even though he only played nine times. Liverpool strives Nunez, Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota for only six between them in the same period.

Manchester United

The attacking misery of Manchester United is well documented this season. Marcus Rashford has more Premier League goals for the club this season than Rasmus Hojlund or Joshua Zirkzee despite the beginning of February, and that tells his own story.

A number of strikers are linked, not least Viktor Gyokeres. The Swede flourished under Ruben Amorim in Portugal in the first few months of the season, and a reunion is turned on, but Cunha is also checked as an alternative.

Things can depend on the success of United – or otherwise – in the Europa League. If the men of Amorim do not win competition, there is every chance that Cunha will drop them off in favor of a club that competes in Europe in the next term.

Aston Villa

The attraction of Champions League football in Villa Park is clearly visible this year. Marco Asensio and the aforementioned Rashford participated in the winter window and are now only two two -legged victories away from a place in the final in Munich.

Both Asensio and Rashford are only on loan, and their respective futures can influence Cunha's plans. However, if he moves to Villa Park, he may not even have to go home.

Villa can still qualify for next season's Champions League, either by winning the edition of this season or by improving their competition. They are three points behind the fifth place Manchester City are when things stand, and that little bit of improvement can be what they need to convince Cunha to join Unai Emery.

Nottingham Forest

Although we are talking about the qualification of Champions League, it would fail to look forest. The Nuno team is third in the table, six points above the city, and are confronted with a huge nine games while watching to ensure that the hard work of the season is not lost.

Forest will also take the city in the semi-final of the FA Cup after a penalty shoot-out victory against Brighton. A chair at the top table in Europe is perhaps a larger draw than a trophy victory when it comes to new signing sessions, but the latter can also be enough to convince Cunha to feel that he is moving himself in a team in the right direction.

He would probably also be the chief on the city, with the current top scorer Chris Wood who became 34 in December. He cannot necessarily say the same about those other options.
