In the club World Cup, his first red card was handed out during PSG's 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid – but it came after a bizarre moment of the competition officer.
The winners of the Champions League returned to action with an emphatic version above their Spanish counterparts in the Rose Bowl Stadium in California.
Goals from Fabian Ruiz, Vitinha, Senny Mayulu and Kang-in Lee took care of the victory in their opener, but some fans kept talking about a certain incident.
In the 77th minute of the match, Atletico defender Clement Lenglet was seen with a fight with referee Istvan Kovacs before he received a yellow card by the civil servant.
This caused bewilderment among the commentators and fans who were aware that Lenglet had already been shown a yellow card earlier in the competition.
Kovacs, however, needed a minute to realize and initially walked away after he had led caution to the French International.
Eventually the Romanian clocked on what had happened and quickly took out a red card and dismissed Lenglet.
PSG landed the first blow in the B -collision group when Fabian Ruiz shot home from a distance in the 19th minute.
They doubled their advantage just before half-time when an Antoine Griezmann Miss led to a counterattack that ended with Vitinha who fell home under sunny sky in southern California.
The LaLiga side seemed to have pulled one when Julian Alvarez thought it was just in the 57th minute, but it was destroyed after a VAR review.
The nightmare of the Spanish party took place when defender Clement Lenglet was sent after receiving a second yellow card and Alexander Sorloth inexplicably missed what a tap-in should have been, instead to send over the bar.
Replacement Senny Mayulu added a third goal for PSG in the 87th minute to end the hope for a comeback from Atletico, while Lee Kang-in shot home to complete the score.
PSG will return to the Rose Bowl on Thursday to take on the Brazilian team of Botafogo, while Atletico will travel to the Seattle to take MLS on the Sattle Sounders.
“The most difficult thing to do in football is to maintain the level, not only high and low,” said Vitinha, who was called man of the match.
“That's what I tried to do. Very good performance of the team and a very good start to this competition. '
PSG was without a Frenchman and Ballon d'Or Favorite Ousmane Dembele, who sustained an injury while playing for France in the UEFA Nations League earlier this month, but they hardly needed him on Sunday.
The historic Rose Bowl in Pasadena fluctuated thanks to the 80,000 fans who turned out to be a year before the US in the midst of the hot afternoon sun, together with Mexico and Canada.
“It was a different environment, but it feels good to see so many people in the US here to watch football, or to watch football, as I say,” Vitinha added.
