Alex Pereira vs. Magomed Ankalaev 2 Set despite months of uncertainty with regard to Rematch
The announcement of Ankalaev vs. Pereira 2 was done after months of uncertainty with regard to a possible rematch between the two colossen. After he was initially verbally agreed to immediately run back their UFC 313 confrontation, Ankalaev repeatedly accused Pereira of refusing fighting offers and seemed to undergo another competition.
Despite the threats of Ankalaev, the immediate rematch option of Pereira comes to UFC Superstardom after his multi-year rise. Pereira became the fastest UFC hunter to earn two world titles when he defeated Procazka for the then belt on UFC 295.
Pereira will have to undergo a new massive weight reduction after sharing EYE opening profits since the UFC 313 fighting. The former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion weighs more than 240 pounds, so that many speculate a potential movement to the heavyweight division.
For the time being every chance of a Pereira heavyweight confrontation with Jon Jones or Tom Aspinall will have to wait as he prepares for his shot at revenge. Aspinall will fight against Ciryl Gane in his first undisputed heavyweight defending defense on UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi.
Merab Dvalishvili vs. Cory Sandhagen serves as the UFC 320 Co-Headliner
But Ankalaev vs. Pereira 2 was not the only intriguing break news that was announced with regard to UFC 320 in Las Vegas. UFC Bantamweight Champion Merab Dvalishvili returns to the UFC 320 Co-Main event against Cory Sandhagen.
Dvalishvili returns for his next title defense after victories over Umar Nurmagomedov and Sean O'Malley earlier this year. After he promised to stay busy in 2025, Dvalishvili has realized his earlier promises and will demonstrably rule the most difficult test of his title against Sandhagen.
Sandhagen was octagonide while DvalishHvili last month O'Malley on UFC 316 submitted and shared a warm backstage interview with DvalishVili with regard to a potential fight. Sandhagen has not fought anymore since the beating of former UFC Flyweight Champion Diveson Figueiredo earlier this year at UFC des Moines.
This will be Sandhagen's second chance to win a UFC belt after he lost to Petr Yan in a short-notice interim title booking on UFC 267. Since then Sandhagen has defeated the will of Song Yadong, Rob Font and Marlon Vera.
The full UFC 320 card is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
