Dana White has clarified his claim that Jon Jones agreed to fight Tom Aspinall.
A new era is going on in the heavyweight division, and it is one without the presence of Jones on the throne.
White announced that Jones retired at UFC Baku on Saturday during his press conference, so that the uncertainty was put to an end to the uncertainty that was forced for months about the title photo.
The news did not come any surprise for the legions of fans, hunters and experts who believed 'bones' when he hinted in retirement. There had been a long call to the UFC to continue, with a petition that called to strip white to strip Jones that even became viral.
The promotion has therefore been criticized because he did not act before. But according to White there was a good reason for the long delay.
Dana White, not the wiser about why Jon Jones went back to Tom Aspinall agreement
White confused fans prior to Jones's official pension when he claimed that the resident of Rochester had agreed to the Aspinall fight.
That, in combination with white, guaranteed that Jones vs. Aspinall would happen, has led to some recoil the way of the UFC -CEO.
But the 55-year-old doubled his comments against Bloody Elbow and other reporters during a recent MediaSchrum, and insisted that the match was “done” until Jones made a sudden and still uninterrupted U-turn.
“Yes, the fight was done,” said White. “We had done the fight long ago.
“Why he decided not to fight, you will have to ask him.”
Whatever the reason, White apparently does not seem to see that it comes to finance. He added that the UFC Jones offered 'what he deserves', although he has not unveiled an exact figure.
Daniel Cormier shoots bitter rival Jon Jones for 'stop'
Jones's decision to hang his gloves instead of uniting the titles has not surprisingly caused a commotion.
Among those who responded with criticism was Daniel Cormier, who is generally considered the most bitter rival of Jones' now closed UFC career.
In a video on his YouTube channel, 'DC' Jones 'Stop' said.
“I said,” If Jon Jones doesn't fight this guy, Jon Jones stopped. ” Because he will walk away from something that has defined his entire adult life, “said Cormier.
“To be honest, I'm not angry that this young man has a life with his family, and they have all this money, and they have all these great things.
“It does not change the fact by not getting into that octagon, he stopped. He did not want to fight against Tom Aspinall, it is so surprising,” Cormier added.
Cormier continued and stated that Jones had given encouragement to those who accused him of fearing Aspinall.
“Is he scared? No, but by not fighting Asinall, he opened that conversation. He makes you all wonder why he is not fighting him.”
