Following his title defense against Stipe Miocic at UFC 309, Jon Jones hinted that he might retire despite calls for him to unify the title against interim champion Tom Aspinall.
There was initially a lot of controversy surrounding Jon Jones' title defense against Stipe Miocic, considering Miocic had been out of action for over three years.
Despite this, Jones finished the former champion in the third round of their UFC 309 main event and Miocic subsequently retired from the sport.
'Bones' also hinted at retirement after Dana White told him he wouldn't be able to fight the superstar, followed by Alex Pereira, but seemingly quickly changed his mind.

Dana White insists there is nothing standing in the way of a potential fight between Jon Jones and Tom Aspinall
After the UFC boss reiterated that if Jones decides to continue fighting he will have to fight interim champion Tom Aspinall, the current heavyweight king claimed he would need 'F*** money' to fight the Brit.
Despite this, White provided a positive update late last year, claiming he is '100% confident' they will take on the Jones vs. Aspinall fight.
And with that, UFC icon and commentator Joe Rogan claimed that Jones demanded $30 million to fight Aspinall, which he claimed was false information after being picked up by White.
Following Rogan's recent misinformation, the UFC boss has once again provided an update on the potential fight between Jones and Aspinall, claiming there is nothing stopping it and that they are in negotiations.
“We're working on it, we're talking about it, I mean I've said I'm very confident a fight will happen this year,” White told Jim Rome.
“There's nothing stopping it, it's just a matter of getting it done. You know, these types of things aren't as easy to put together these types of fights as people think they are. It takes time, but we will get it done,” he said confidently.

Dana White also provides an update on Conor McGregor's potential UFC return in 2025
Last year, the promotion was hoping for the return of their biggest star, Conor McGregor, but after he pulled out of his scheduled UFC 303 return against Michael Chandler, they seemingly lost hope on that prospect.
With it being more than three years since the Irishman last set foot in the UFC Octagon, White is hopeful that 2025 will be the year 'The Notorious' returns and has suggested he could return in the autumn.
That's even though McGregor has recently been continuously linked with a possible boxing fight against both Logan Paul and KSI, with White claiming those fights won't happen.
“Hopefully Conor McGregor will return in the fall of this year,” White told Pardon My Take.
