The Supreme Court in Catalonia acquitted Dani Alves rape after being convicted a little more than a year ago. The incident took place in December 2022 in a nightclub in Barcelona, but the former Blaugrana and Sevilla player has maintained his innocence since he handed over to the police in January 2023.
The Court of Appeal confirmed the appeal submitted by Alves after the conviction was confirmed. According to Sport, the three magistrates who were in the case found a 'Lacunes, Onn Nauw shoes, Inconsistencies and Contradictions in the facts, judicial assessment and their commitments', a court ruling on Friday morning.
Alves was originally convicted of rape and sentenced to 4.5 years in prison, after a trial that lasted a few weeks to complete. It took more than a year before the case was tried, in which Alves spent 14 months in custody – he was originally denied him and had seized his passport because he was considered a risk risk. After the conviction, Alves reportedly made a bail union together worth approximately € 1 million and has since lived in the Catalan capital, although he has been denied permission to leave the country while his profession was in trial.
