Barcelona have started 2025 with an ongoing saga over Dani Olmo's signing for the second half of the 2024/25 season.
The Spain international is currently not in action as his La Liga registration expires at the end of 2024.
Despite a slew of last-minute attempts to finalize financial deals to make this happen, Olmo is left out in the cold ahead of a busy January.
With progress remaining slow, the 26-year-old still believes Barcelona will secure his registration for the second half of the season, according to Diario AS
There is an option to terminate his contract (with full payment) if he is not registered, but this is not being considered by Olmo or his entourage at this stage.
That point is supported by the latest statements from his agent Andy Bara, who indicated that money will not be a decisive factor in a possible transfer-free exit.
“I believe in President Laporta, Deco and I think they will find a solution for Dani. It is a huge club,” said Fabrizio Romano.
“We respect President Laporta and Deco. They made great efforts to sign Dani last summer.
“Big money on a free transfer? Of course, the best deals are when players are free. But emotions are also important.
“We have never made a career decision for money. Dani plays for the love of the game.
“He also put in a lot of effort to be at Barcelona. I'm happy to have Dani at Barca, one of the best players in the world, at one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
