Daniel Cormier claims UFC 318 will be the ‘hardest’ task he’s faced after taking on Joe Rogan’s role in his absence

Daniel Cormier will not just sit Cage-Side to call the fighting on July 19.

Although there have been some heated interactions between different UFC 318 hunters, the main event has not been surprisingly respectful.

Vechtweek has been emotional for Dustin Poirier while he prepares to drive into the sunset after a final UFC fight against Max Holloway.

Because Holloway is more than ready to play the villain for his opponent's home fans, the reception for 'The Diamond' will be worth the entrance fee alone.

Cormier plays a major role on Saturday evening after the news that Joe Rogan will not be present to call the campaign in New Orleans.

Daniel Cormier is braced for interviewing Dustin Poirier in the Octagon on UFC 318

With Joe Rogan apparently occupied by a family vacation, Paul Felder will take his place in the stand to comment on Daniel Cormier and Jon Anik.

The absence of Rogan also means that it will be Cormier's responsibility to enter the Octagon at the end of each fight to interview the hunters and to give their moment on the microphone.

With that in mind 'DC' is preparing for what will certainly be an emotional end of the night, regardless of what happens in the main event.

As a fellow resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, Cormier has been closely linked to Dustin Poirier for many years and has called some of his most remarkable battles of Cage-Side.

The UFC Hall of Famer recently spoke in an interview with MMA Junkie's Mike Bohn about why he expects UFC 318 to be his most difficult task so far as a commentator, because he plays a major role in the last chapter of Poirier's career.

“I had to do some pretty emotional for my career, but I think it will probably be the most difficult because I met Dustin long ago after I had defeated Jeff Monson in Dallas in 2011. I met him in a gym in Lafayette and to see what he became, it's excellent.”

Daniel Cormier is enthusiastic to look at Dustin Poirier, something he never got

Now that UFC 318 The return of the promotion to Louisiana is after a decade, the UFC has moved their schedule to give Dustin Poirier the perfect afterk.

'The Diamond' fought earlier for his home fans in 2015, where he eliminated Yancy Mediros, but he was not the same beloved legend that he is today.

During the interview, Daniel Cormier spoke about how he never got the chance to fight in Louisiana during his incredible UFC career.

'DC' is looking forward to seeing how Poirier gets this opportunity now that he has cemented himself as a modern grand.

“Dustin fought there in 2015 when I had to fight against Ryan Bader, but he was not there yet, right? He was not entirely the star he had to be to really feel what fighting in Louisiana could mean that now. It will be absolute madness.

“I mean, the fact that this man still lives at home. Born and raised there, Lafayette represents the way he does, it's special. I didn't get that.”
