Tottenham -President Daniel Levy has left Thomas Frank in little doubt about what he expects with a warning that one Europa League trophy is simply not enough.
Levy made it clear that he craves the Premier League and Champions League that had fired Ange Postecoglou, only 16 days after leading traces to their first trophy for 17 years.
He also expects to see a successful Spurs team and beat opponents in a fashion that is suitable for their stylish house.
“It makes no sense to have a beautiful stadium if you don't have a great team,” said Levy.
'Failure is not an option. The desire is to succeed and because it is so difficult, I want to succeed even more.
“We won a European trophy. It's not enough. It is what we have not done that is more important.
“We have to win the competition. We want to win the Premier League. We want to win the Champions League. We want to win. '
Together with the new Chief Executive Vinai Venkatesham, Levy spoke on the internal media channel of the club about the pressure of the long wait for trophies and the decision to dismiss postecoglou, which ended but last season provided a terrible Premier League campaign and ended 17th.
“I am very grateful,” said the Spurs chairman. “I don't regret mentioning Ange.
'In his first season we finished fifth and in our second season we were in the clouds to win a trophy, but we have to participate in all competitions, and we thought we needed a change.
“I have an excellent relationship with him. He will always be part of our history. He and his family are always welcome back.
'It was a collective decision, it was not my decision, we do everything together. It was difficult emotional, but we believe that we made the right decision for the club. '
Venkatesham explained that technical director Johan Lange had analyzed more than 30 candidates for the job, delivered a shortlist and Brentford -Baas Frank came up as 'absolutely our number one candidate' and 'an excellent developer of young players'.
At the new start, Levy added: “The things that I noticed with Thomas, he is clearly very intelligent, great communicator, Super Human, plus all other technical aspects that are clearly important.”
