Daniel Zellhuber makes a bold promise following stunning upset loss to 39-year-old vet at UFC 318

UFC Lightweight Prospect Daniel Zellhuber suffered the greatest loss of uppery of the night on UFC 318.

Dustin Poirier's former rival Michael Johnson turned the clock back with a stunning UFC 318 head card from Daniel Zellhuber region. Johnson, 39, won his third consecutive fight and held a clear speed benefit against the larger Zellhuber.

It was a stunning setback for Zellhuber after he was resolved to staring after a 'Fight of the Year' leader in his last fight on UFC 306. Zellhuber looked hoving to pull the trigger against the veteran Johnson, familiar to a kick-heavy approach during the three-round.

After he fell to Johnson, the UFC status of Zellhuber can be at stake in his next fight.

Daniel Zellhuber promises that he will be 'best in the world', despite a huge setback on UFC 318

Zellhuber is one of the alums of Dana White's Contender Series to make a name for himself in the UFC Octagon. Jamahal Hill, Sean O'Malley and others have continued earning UFC championships after earning contracts on the annual series.

But Zellhuber wants to go one step further after his second consecutive loss at UFC 318.

In a recent message in his Instagram story, Zellhuber broke his social media stilte after UFC 318.

“The goal does not change. The beginning of this story may not be the happiest, but I promise you that I will be the best in the world, because I know all the work I have done every day,” Zellhuber said.

“I apologize to those who always support me; I will come back stronger and better. Thanks to those who stay with me, and also to those who get off the boat because they help me see who I need in the neighborhood and who I don't have.

“All the glory to God, who tells me that I can give more and keep telling me that this is what I should do with my life. We will better come back, thank you all.”

Zellhuber obtained a UFC contract in 2021 to DWCS before he dropped his debut to Trey Ogden in September 2022. He then won three consecutive fights on Lando Vannata, Francisco Prado and Christos Giagos for his recent battle.

Given the 6'1 ″ frame of Zellhuber, he could possibly move a weight class after UFC 318. But from this letter Zellhuber has not expressed any wish to go to Welterweight.

UFC star accused Max Holloway of 'retreating' punches on Dustin Poirier

In the UFC 318 Main Event, Max Holloway defended his BMF title against Dustin Poirier in the pension fight of the latter. But according to a former UFC champion, Holloway could have ended the fight early, but chose to take it easy on the retreating Poirier.

Aljamain Sterling accused Holloway of 'retreating' punches after dropping Poirier twice in the first round. Poirier almost finished Holloway in round 2 with bumps and an attempt by Guillotine Choke, but Holloway would win the fight by unanimous decision.

According to Poirier, Holloway told him backstage that he was 'out' after he had fallen in round. Poirier believed that the fight was 2-2 on its way to the fifth and final round, in contrast to the popular opinion.

Poirier withdraws as one of the greatest hunters who never wins a linear UFC title in the history of promotion. As far as Holloway is concerned, he was able to return later this year to defend his BMF belt while approaching a potentially lightweight title shot.
