DANNY ROSE has revealed he sought legal advice after his infamous affair with Jose Mourinho was made public without his knowledge.
Rose said he was only made aware their argument was being filmed when it was included in Tottenham's Amazon Prime documentary.
The defender said he was not aware that Mourinho had allowed cameras to be installed for the 2020 All or Nothing series.
Rose sought legal advice when he discovered a recording existed six months later.
In the scene, Rose arrived at the then Spurs manager's office to ask Mourinho what “his problem is”.
The Amazon clip showed the pair arguing about Rose's playing time, before the Special One accused the former full-back of not showing up against Liverpool.
And in an appearance on former teammate Kyle Walker's BBC podcast, Rose explained that he was only informed much later that their dispute had been filmed.
Rose said: “So when Poch was there. There were no cameras in his office. He didn't allow that.
“So when I went to knock on the door, I'm assuming there's still no cameras in the office, but they've put one up now and I didn't know that.
“This conversation is in December. I was on loan at Newcastle in January. I didn't hear from one of the lads until May.
“I got this and they put it in. So yeah, I wasn't happy. I had to get legal advice.”
Rose, who won 29 caps for England between 2016 and 2019, never played for Tottenham again and was subsequently loaned out to Newcastle in January 2021.
Rose added: “I only worked under him for eight to 10 weeks. It wasn't like there was a huge argument or anything like that.
“I didn't really have a relationship with him. It was just a normal player-manager relationship. 'Hello. Good morning. How are you?'
“Well, obviously he came in and his approach was to build with three centre-backs and then have the right-back as an outlet.
“And my game was more, you know, not more attacking, but I enjoyed being attacking.
“His system was that the player on the left of the back four would be a central defender who would not go forward adventurously.
“My days were already numbered at the club when he wanted to adopt that approach.”
You could hear Rose accusing Mourinho of effectively playing favorites.
The documentary showed Rose saying: “You're right and I respect what you're saying. But other people are bad at training, bad at matches, but play every match and are in the team every match.
“It's not fair. The defense has kept two clean sheets, they play every game. It's not fair.”
The final blow for the 30-year-old came when he was suspended again after the 0-0 draw against Watford on January 18.
Rose turned up at the club's training headquarters in Enfield the next morning to speak to his gaffer.
He left at the end of the 2020/21 season after fourteen years at the club and joined Watford, for whom he made nine appearances before agreeing to retire in 2022.
