Darren Till admits he ‘hated MMA’ heading into Dricus Du Plessis fight that caused UFC exit

Darren Till loves fighting, but it has not always been the case for the former UFC title title.

Long before he was a boxer on Misfits, Liverpool's Darren Till made his Pro MMA debut in 2013 and two years later, his UFC debut. Till went unbeaten on 17-0-1 before he was losing a loss for the then champion Tyron Woodley for the Welterweight title, for which Jake Paul recently entered him.

Since then it has been a rocky few years for up to and including 1-4 in its last five UFC fights. The last nail in the coffin? A fight against the current middleweight champion Drus Du Plessis.

Darren Till was 'just so injured' in the late UFC -Run

Until Du Plessis gave one of his toughest fights on his way to the title at UFC 282 in 2022. Till had a lot for Du Plessis, but the South African found a victory to win as he always has in the UFC, who submitted 'the Gorilla' in the third round.

On the way to what his last UFC fight would be, Till at the time reveals his contempt for MMA, those serious injuries from previous top candidates fighting. “I love fighting,” made clear to second out.

'When I was like that [doing] Mma back when I go to the [UFC] End, I hated MMA … not, “I hated it,” it was just, I was just so wounded, man. '

Both his MCL and ACL tore fights against former champion Robert Whittaker and Derek Brunson in back-to-back. “It used to come to me on the day of the day, as if I had always been injected to F – only to get through the day,” he continued. “So yes, that was quite.”

Darren Till reminds of Dricus du Plessis as 'Fighting a baby'

A 6-5-1 record against the best in the world in the UFC, you could say that there is no loss for until then the champion Drus du Persis-a fight that the scouser thought he won.

“To be honest, look at what he has done to everyone,” Till said about his former enemy. “Israel Adesanya, Sean Strichland, Robert Whittaker … I am the only man who has placed him on the feet. He had nothing for me on the feet.

“It felt like I fought a baby, … clear, then he brought me down – but yes, we will see it when I go back. I and Dana [White] are good, really good. “

After a rough patch in MMA, his UFC release in 2023, the things look up until after a TKO victory on Misfits -box champion Anthony 'Pretty Boy' Taylor in January and booked his next boxing game against colleague UFC veteran Darren in Manchester, Veteran Darren.
