Darren Till’s new opponent announced as Misfits Boxing champion after Tommy Fury pulled out of grudge fight

Darren Till will take on light heavyweight champion Anthony Taylor in his Misfits Boxing debut next month.

The Scouse star was due to face Tommy Fury, but the boxer stopped fighting when Till threatened to kick him in the head if he got on the scorecards after a few rounds. The comment appeared to be a joke and the ex-UFC title contender would have lost his entire wallet if he had acted on it.

Now he will face former Bellator star Taylor, who has had an impressive winning streak under the Misfits banner over the past two years. Most recently, he took out Anderson Silva's son Gabriel and Karate Combat's Samuel Ericsson within three weeks of each other in August.

Misfits Boxing announces new card for Manchester event, including Darren Till

With less than a month to go until fight night, fans were left in stitches over what happened to Misfits Boxing's Manchester card. However, on Monday it was announced that Darren Ti would face Anthony Taylor.

The pair will compete in a cruiserweight bout with a catchweight limit, meaning Taylor will not defend his light heavyweight title. Till competed as low as welterweight during the height of his UFC career, while Taylor fought as low as featherweight in his early MMA career.

Till has been calling for a fight with Taylor for the past year, regularly mocking his performances. Even two knockout wins in three weeks weren't enough to impress him. He took a swipe at the Misfits star for his performance.

The evening's co-main event will see renowned fight commentator Wade Plemons make his highly anticipated ring debut against Love Island star Moziah Pinder. He was supposed to meet controversial Tik Tok star HSTikkyTokky, but the Brit has pulled out due to a legal issue.

Filling out the undercard will see a host of lesser-known influencer boxers looking to build their names on the Misfits Boxing platform. The most famous name is Tik Tok star Beavo, who is making his ring debut after being forced out of a fight with Danny Aarons in August.

Tommy Fury withdrew from Misfits X-Series 20 due to kick threat

The event should headline Tommy Fury's return to the ring after more than a year away, likely marking the start of his return to rematches with the likes of KSI or Jake Paul. But he has backed out, citing Till's insistence that he would throw a kick if the fight didn't go his way.

Speaking to IFL TV, Fury reiterated his fight week decision for his brother Tyson Fury's failed rematch with Oleksandr Usyk. “Listen, at the end of the day, I'm a professional fighter and the reason I chose Darren wasn't to then cut the card,” he explained.

“It was because Darren has no business brain, Darren is what he is at the end of the day. I come here to fight and the last thing I want is for someone to lose a few rounds and do something stupid like take me down.

“I'm not interested in that, it's not a circus. I know they're Misfits and I know they all love that but I don't want that for my career so at the end of the day you've got a guy on the phone with gambling companies or whatever saying he's going to do this and do this That.

'I don't need that, to be honest. If you want to behave like this, no problem, you will be replaced and we look forward to a much bigger and better fight. Darren had a chance and he blew it because he's an idiot.

“In front of his whole family and his whole team or whatever, that's what happens when you think you're smart and you're not. I wanted a good fight and the guy is talking about rolling on the ground. If I wanted to do that, I would have gone to MMA, right?”
