Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones expressed themselves after missing their penalties when Liverpool crashed from the Champions League.
Liverpool pulled 1-1 together with Paris Saint-Germain in their last 16 collision, in which the Reds eventually lost a penalty shootout after Nunez and Jones saw their spot kicks saved by Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The couple sent a message to fans of Liverpool on social media, with their determination to bounce back when the Reds are confronted with Newcastle in the Carabo Cup final this weekend. “Get up and continue, as always,” Nunez wrote on social media.
Jones posted on Instagram: “Up and try to help the team at any time I can, is the type of person I am. This comes with risk and failure, last night I have a taste of it!
The comments of the couple come after Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk had insisted on his teammates not to think about their disappointing output and to ensure that they are concerned about going against Newcastle. “It was a very intense, great football game, I am also thinking of being part of it,” Van Dijk told Amazon Prime.
“It was all for Liverpool and what we shown in Paris and unfortunately we are on punishment and that is the reality. I think we have created dangerous moments in the first half and they also have the quality, and then it comes down to fines.
“It is part of football, I told the boys, you can of course be disappointed because we are out of the competition, but getting up and preparing for the next challenge, a nice at the weekend.
“I think we were pretty good today, and you want to go as far as possible, but we knew that if we pulled PSG, it would be very difficult. We saw in Paris when we struggled, but we won, and today we saw a very good Liverpool side, but we are out of the competition.
“Today from the first second, and then extra time when the fatigue enters into force for both parties, it becomes more open, but especially regular time, we have shown a very good game. We have been able to speak the game for centuries, but we are out of the competition, that is reality.”
