‘David is a rare talent’, says Tudor after opening match win over Parma

Juventus head coach Igor Tudor greeted the summer through Jonathan David as a “rare talent” after the striker scored on his Serie A debut.

Tudor's silk defeated Parma with 2-0 in Allianz Stadium with David and Dusan Vlahovic, both of whom were on the score sheet, while Andrea Cambiasso was shown a late red card for the hosts.

David handed in a cross from Kenan Yildiz, who helped both goals, because the Canada International has now scored four goals in his last four first performances of a competition season, goes back to his time in Lille.

The 25-year-old is also only the second Canadian player who scored in the Italian top flight, after Tajon Buchanan, and Tudor praised the quality of David in the last third part.

“I saw many positive things in a very difficult match tonight, although we did not expect Parma to be so closed,” Tudor told Dazn Italia.

“I told the boys during the rest to keep this up, we would score sooner or later, the most important thing was not to admit.

“It was important to start strong, as we saw with other results that it should not be taken for granted that you win at home against a team that may not be at the same level.

“We allowed them very little, but Bremer managed to prevent the goal with that block, and then we managed to take the lead. David has a major movement in the criminal area, which is a rare talent, and is always concentrated.”

Vlahovic scored only four minutes after replacing David, but the future of the Serbs in the club is doubt when his contract ends next summer.

Tudor revealed that he does not know whether Vlahovic will be a Juventus player at the end of the transfer window, but insisted that the final decision will not be his.

“He [Vlahovic] is concentrated. He is a juve player and does what he has to do, “Tudor added.

“He worked well in every training session, we will see what happens in this transfer market last week. We talk and see.

“As I said, Dusan is focused and he scored a quality goal. If you ask me what will happen, I just don't know. I have my thoughts and explain them, but the directors make the final decision.”
