Everton -Manager David Moyes joked that he did not know that Rivals Liverpool played on Tuesday evening when he went to the theater instead.
Moyes was in charge of Goodison Park in February when the first Merseyside Derby of the season ended. The late goal of James Tarkowski that day threatened to derail Liverpool's title offer, but the side of Arne Slot has since expanded their lead at the top.
Liverpool is still in a shot to win two trophies this season and will be taking on Newcastle in Sunday's final in the Carabao Cup on Sunday before resuming their competition campaign in April. However, they will not add Champions League crown, but on Tuesday evening lost by fines to Paris Saint-Germain.
Moyes was in Liverpool Empire Theater when a bust was unveiled in honor of the late Everton owner Bill Kenwright. The tribute was followed by a performance of Blood Brothers, where Moyes spoke to the media before he took a seat.
“That is a way to prevent you from looking at Liverpool tonight by being here to see Blood Brothers,” a BBC Liverpool reporter told Moyes. The manager gave a tongue-in-cheek answer and said, “I didn't know there was a game tonight, right?”
Moyes will undoubtedly keep an eye on the images while he prepares for an upcoming meeting with Liverpool. His team will travel to Anfield on April 2, only the other side of the international break.
For that they welcome West Ham on Saturday in Goodison Park. The inverted fixture ended in November in November, when Moyes' predecessor Sean Dyche was still in the Dugout.
Liverpool can afford to drop points between now and the end of the season after opening a 15-point gap for the closest challenger Arsenal. After a big reaction, they will be after their European exit, with the Slot Manager satisfied with the performance, but not the result.
“It was the best football game I was ever involved in,” the Dutchman told Amazon Prime. “Incredible achievements, especially in comparison with last week.
“The first 20/25 minutes we were all over them, created coincidence after coincidence and suddenly we were 1-0 down. Probably it was almost the opposite, perhaps we were not lucky because the margins were so small last night.
“After 90 minutes it felt that we earned more than 1-0 lower. I was waiting for us to score. I don't think the second half, apart from the last five minutes, when they threatened us once or twice. We played the perfect game except by scoring goals, it was the same for PSG last week when they played the perfect game and it was today.”
