DAVID MOYES could make a stunning return to Everton after 12 years away.
The Toffees sacked Sean Dyche just three hours before their FA Cup win over Peterborough.
Billionaire majority owner Dan Friedkin dumped the 53-year-old Dyche after a likely angry confrontation with the club's hierarchy.
The club are currently 16th in the Premier League and one point outside the relegation zone with a game in hand.
However, it was decided a change in the dugout was needed, and Moyes is one of the frontrunners for the job.
The Scot, 61, was manager at Goodison Park for 11 years between 2002 and 2013.
He left the club for Manchester United as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor after the legend retired.
Moyes' last game in charge of Everton saw the team lose 2-1 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The result meant they had to settle for sixth place, a position fans could only dream of at this point.
His team was full of notable players, including a former Manchester United flop, cult hero and Everton heroes.

Tim Howard
The American shot-stopper was in Everton's goal against Chelsea.
Howard, 45, continued to play in the US second tier with Memphis 901 into his senior years, only retiring in October 2024.
He can be considered a Premier League legend with 399 appearances in the league for Everton and Manchester United.
Seamus Coleman
Coleman, 36, is the only player left in Everton's squad from Moyes' last game.
In the absence of a permanent manager, he was in the dugout as a coach for the victory over Posh.
The Irishman was signed by Moyes from Sligo Rovers for just £60,000 and has gone on to make more than 400 appearances for the Toffees.
Phil Jagielka
Jagielka, 42, is another player who could be considered a legend by the Goodison faithful.
He spent 12 years at the club between spells at Sheffield United, making 385 appearances.
Jagielka continued to play until 2023 after spells at Derby County and Stoke City.
Sylvain Distin
Distin, 47, was also a key part of the Premier League during his playing career.
He played 469 games in the league, spanning spells with Manchester City, Portsmouth, Everton and Bournemouth.
Leighton Baines
The left-back played for Everton for 13 years after joining from Wigan for £6million in 2007.
Baines, 40, retired from playing in 2020 and has been a coach at the club ever since.
He was appointed interim manager of the club following the dismissal of Dyche alongside Coleman.
Kevin Mirallas
The Belgian winger was one of Everton's most exciting players in the side against Chelsea.
Mirallas was inconsistent with the ability to win games or outright during his time on Merseyside.
He disappeared from the team towards the end of his Everton career and last played for Cypriot side AEL Limassol before retiring in 2023.
Darron Gibson
Gibson, 37, joined Everton in 2012 after failing to succeed at Manchester United.
The midfielder spent five years at Toffee, but only made 51 Premier League appearances for the club.
He last played for Salford City in 2020 before breaking his leg against Port Vale.
Marouane Fellaini
Fellaini is the team's third star with ties to the Red Devils.
The midfielder joined Moyes at Old Trafford in a £27.5 million transfer and went on to make 177 appearances for the club.
Due to his limited playing style, he was often the victim of jokes, but he did score 22 goals, including late winners against Arsenal, Club Brugge, Leicester City and BSC Young Boys.
Steven Pienaar
The South African was one of the most reliable players during Moyes' reign at Everton.
He spent eight seasons at the club, spread over two spells, before leaving permanently for Sunderland in 2016.
He retired from football in 2018 with Bidvest Wits from Johannesburg.
Steven Naismith
Naismith joined Everton in 2011 and was a steady but not spectacular player for the player.
He spent four years at the club and scored 26 goals in 123 appearances for the club.
He left for Norwich City in 2015 before returning to Scotland in 2017.
Victor Anichebe
The striker also left Goodison Park shortly after Moyes, after spending seven years at the club.
He was never productive, scoring just 18 goals in 131 league appearances for the club.
After leaving the Toffees, he had notable spells at West Brom and Sunderland before his final club Beijing Enterprises.
