David Moyes sends Jarrad Branthwaite transfer warning as Everton ‘hold all the cards’

Everton rejected an range of £ 50 million from Manchester United for Jarrad Branthwaite and David Moyes last summer that the central half of England is still under contract for three years

David Moyes insists that he does not want to lose Jarrad Branthwaite this summer and claims: “Everton holds all the cards”. Moyes cashed in to Wayne Rooney, Joleon Lescott and Thomas Gravensen during his first spell as Everton -Baas to finance his expenses, and after Everton rejected a £ 50 million offer of Manchester United for Branthwaite last summer, he says that the blues are in a strong position to retain him.

“You have to remember that Jarrad Branthwaite is left for his contract for another three years,” said the Everton Baas. “You have two years and a year option, so if there is something, Everton keeps all the cards with regard to that player.

“I also have to say during the trip for many years that I had with Everton, we had to sell different players from Wayne Rooney to Mikel Arteta and Joleon Lescott.

“It is part of being a football manager, especially at certain clubs, you have to sell on a trip to try to build.

“But I wouldn't think Jarrad is one that I would like to lose. That's for sure.” Branthwaite, 22, has already made his debut in England and Moyes agrees that he is like John Stones, whom he signed from Barnsley in January 2013 for £ 3 million.

“There can be a similarity in some ways,” he said. “I think Jarrad is bigger than John. John was probably very good on the ball, he also played a few positions, he played on full-back and he played in midfield for Barnsley before we signed him.

“So it's a pretty good comparison, there are quite a few similarities, but they are not identical players. I think Jarrad is a young center-back, 22, who has done remarkable things at the start of his career.

“I still think he has a lot of development that you would expect from a center of center. He has some incredibly good attributes. I think he is doing really well, I think he is a great talent with a lot of development.

Moyes also admits that he started planning next season because he is sure that Everton will be safe. He has avoided to make such claims earlier, but believes that he can start building for next season with the blues 15 points free from the drop zone. “I believe we probably have enough points now to be a Premier League club,” he said.
