Reported by David Ornstein, Aston Villa -wing player Leon Bailey is looking for opportunities to join the Serie A Giant Roma.
Roma is in a discussion with Aston Villa about a potential deal to sign leon Bailey winger.
The 28-year-old signed a new contract in February 2024, which runs until 2027. He is one of the several players available to leave the Midlands Club, including Alex Moreno and Leander Dendoncker.
Clubs in Turkey – including Besiktas – and the Saudi Pro League are also enthusiastic about Bailey, but Roma comes on the rise as the strongest freer, after discussions took place in the window about a Saudi movement earlier.
An offer still has to be made, but conversations take place between Villa and their Italian counterparts.
If a movement occurs, Bailey's seventh summer signature and their second from the Premier League would become, such as Brighton & Hove Albion striker Evan Ferguson is connected. Besiktas has signed six players in this window.
Bailey was used more and more sparingly last season by head coach Unai Emery, appeared in 24 top matches and started only 14. He started struggling for form by the end of the previous campaign, when he played due to injury and illness and disrupted a few beats until 2024-25.
“Every day I talk to him about it (his form),” Emery said at a press conference last year.
“He accepts my challenge to get the best of him like last year. We need him. Leon is a very specific player for us as a winger, threatening behind.”
The Jamaica International came to Villa in August 2021 for a fee in the £ 30 million region of Bundesliga Side Bayer Leverkusen. He has made 144 performances for the club, with 22 goals and 24 assists.
The winger helped Unai Emery's side to be eligible for the Champions League in 2023-24 with a fourth place in the Premier League and reached the semi-final of the Conference League.
Bailey had spells with the Austrian lower League parties Anif Jugend and Livering and Slovak team as Trencin before he started his senior career at the Belgian Pro League club Genk Genk. He made 77 performances for the team before moving to Leverkusen in January 2017.
