De Ligt and Zirkzee left out of Netherlands’ Nations League squad

Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee were dropped from the provisional team of the Netherlands for the quarterfinals of the Nations League.

The Manchester United Pair, who was regularly functions under Ronald Koeman, is out of place after enduring difficult individual campaigns at Old Trafford.

Koeman's side Welcome Spain in Rotterdam for the first stage of their quarter -final draw on March 20, whereby the return setup takes place three days later in Valencia.

When Fit Fit, former Captain De Ligt was part of every Dutch team since he debuted in 2017, while Zirkzee was involved every time since his senior international arch at Euro 2024.

Despite the absence of the duo, Koeman still mentioned 10 Premier League players in his provisional 25-man party, including Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Justin Kluist.

In the meantime, former Manchester United Forward Memphis Depay – now playing for Brazilian giants Corinthians – could make his first Orange appearance since the Euro 2024 semi -final defeat by England.
