Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice was the star of the show when the Gunners Real Madrid 3-0 in their first leg of the Champions League hit on Tuesday evening
Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice should be more adventurous with his death, according to ex-England striker Gary Lineker. Rice surprised the Continent on Tuesday evening with an empire performance against Real Madrid.
His two amazing free kicks saw the £ 105 million star bring a big blow to the Champions League-Hoop of Madrid, while the Gunners fired three past Los Blancos without an answer in the quarterfinals first legs.
Mikel Merino stacked on the misery for Carlo Ancelotti's side with a third, but the night was from Rice. While Lineker and Alan Shearer have sung the praise of rice, the ex-Leicester Forward believes that the 26-year-old can raise his game even further, Football London reports.
“He is brilliant in running with the ball and bursts through the lines,” said Lineker. “And I think he is actually a better passer -by than he thinks he is himself.
“That is the only thing of his game, I would say. Take a few more chances with your death in the future, as a striker you would appreciate that.
“But if I look at him and his delivery, it is not really a huge surprise that he can do something like a free kick because, for example, he is accurate of his corners. If you can be so accurate with the ball, you can leave it from 25 meters.”
Shearer believes that Rice can also add to his game by further concentrating on his attack tasks. “He came in so many good forward positions. She [Madrid] Couldn't hurt him, “said the former striker in Newcastle.
“Even in the first half, he made two or three really smart runs in the box, and he is brilliant about it. He has to do that. I think he should do that more often because he is excellent.”
Rice spoke after the game, admitted that the night felt like a big touchstone in his career. “It will not touch me yet because there is still a leg to go. I am excited,” he said. “I am happy, I am in the clouds. In a few years it will affect me that what I did tonight is really special.”
Ex-Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand also joined the choir of Lof for Rice, which suggests that the game was a determining moment in his career.
“Every top player needs a striking moment,” Ferdinand said to Rio responds. “[Steven] Gerrard had loads, [Frank] Lampard had a lot and [Paul] Scholes had a lot of them.
“He hadn't had that in an arsenal shirt yet. This was that moment. I don't think he should be so good or something like Gerrard because I don't think that can be reincarnated. But Declan Rice can be Declan Rice. That can still be a hell of a player.”
Arsenal will travel to the Santiago Bernabeu next Wednesday with their 3-0 lead to take on Madrid in the second stage.
