After he became the first active LA Liga player who participated in Gerard Pique's League project, RCD Mallorca Rechtsback Pablo Maffeo gave an interview in which he claimed that his collisions with Real Madrid were an obstacle to the Spanish national team. Maffeo is back and forth with Vinicius Junior in Games Against Los Blancos has become a characteristic of the past seasons.
Speaking with Cadena Cope, Maffeo explained that he would rather play for Argentina – he shares dual nationality and was once called by the Albiceleste, although he did not make his debut. However, Maffeo says that he would not entertain Spain call-up now.
“I, I would be with Argentina. I was good there, they treated me super well. If I had to choose one day, it would be Argentina. I wouldn't go with Spain, I have said so much. As a result of the Vinicius problem with Real Madrid … that makes it more unlikely, the confrontation with Madrid. [otherwise]But I wouldn't go with Spain. '
Maffeo was not particularly impressed by the Spain team of Luis de la Fuente as it is.

A flash point in almost every collision between RCD Mallorca and Real Madrid, Maffeo has sustained that it is all part of the game, and that Vinicius seems like a 'good guy' for him in the past. However, he believes that the media have fueled the flames of conflicts.
“There have been situations that were taken out of context, for example when I said that I would eliminate him in ten seconds. It was recorded three months before I played against Madrid and it was released that week. You have to listen to the entire interview. If you want a circus, look for a different monkey for it.”
The 27-year-old also clashed with Raul Asencio during the Spanish Supercup in January, where the latter laughed at him and Maffeo said: “Go and Dsitribute videos.” Those arguments have made him more known.
“I have noticed that I am better known. On the field I do not like and even less like laughed at. If they hesitate, I also enter and hesitate. If you set fire to fire and fire, there is always a motivation against Madrid, but I treat all opponents the same.
Maffeo became a public enemy number one when the two parties meet, and it was remarkable that his remark about knockout from Vinicius was said to be joked, but was granted again only a few days before the game. But certainly Maffeo would admit that he also fueled the flames somewhat during their quarrels.
