Derrick Lewis gets an Octagon phone call from Donald Trump after 35-second knockout at UFC Nashville

UFC Heavyweight Ster Derrick Lewis took a phone call from US President Donald Trump in the Octagon when the UFC Nashville result was announced.

Derrick Lewis expanded his all-time UFC Knockouts record with a brutal finish at UFC Nashville about Tallison Teixeira. Just a few seconds in the fight Lewis Teixeira dropped with a left hand before he ended the fight with heavy follow -up recordings when Teixeira turned up.

At UFC Nashville, Lewis turned a young, rising heavyweight to keep his place in the heavyweight title photo. After his last knock -out finish, Lewis received a phone call from the Oval Office, because the official result was read by Cage broadcaster Bruce Buffer.

US President Donald Trump is an avid UFC fan and attended countless events before, during and after his presidential conditions. Various top UFC stars, including Jorge Masvidal and Michael Chandler, are enthusiastic supporters of the president.

As he has shown during his UFC career, the Theatrics of Lewis were almost as entertaining as the fight itself. He urged the Nashville Mermany, shouted his wife during his interview after fighting Daniel Cormier and received a sudden phone call from President Trump because the official result was read.

“Derrick came by and said:” Where is the president? “,” Said UFC CEO Dana White during the press conference after the fight.

“And I said he's not there tonight, but he looks. And I brought him on the phone and brought him to the phone.”

When asked what he and President Trump discussed, Lewis stated humorous that their conversation was 'classified'.

Lewis's phone call with President Trump comes in the midst of the UFC plans to possibly organize an event in the White House in 2026.

After his knockout victory over UFC Nashville, Lewis could be one or two victories of a different potential title shot. From undisputed heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall is expected to return to an opponent to be received later this year.

Lewis called the sixth ranked competitions Waldo Cortes-Acosta for his next fight, although Cortes-Acosta was booked next month for a Matchup with Sergei Pavlovich on UFC Shanghai. Cortes-Acosta drives on a five-field winning streak, including victories, such as Andrei Arlovski and Serghei Spivac.

Lewis returned to the Octagon of recent Knock -Out victories over Rodrigo Nascimento and Marcos Rogerio de Lima. He lost a short-notice main event booking against Jilton Almeida in UFC Sao Paulo in 2023.
